2 female sepak takraw athletes from Nghe An won Asian Gold Medals
(Baonghean.vn) - These two female athletes are both from Dien Chau district and are both veteran athletes of Nghe An Sepak Takraw.
The 2023 Asian Sepak Takraw Championship will be held in Hangzhou (China) from June 20 to 23. The Vietnamese women's Sepak Takraw team is in the same group with China, the Philippines, and Taiwan.
Two Nghe An athletes of the Vietnam Women's Sepak Takraw Team, Nguyen Thi My and Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh, participated in both events that the team competed in this tournament, including 3-person and 4-person teams.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese sepak takraw team of 3 (including Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi My, Tran Thi Hong Nhung, Vu Thi Van Anh, Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh) will compete from June 20 to 21, while the team of 4 (including Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi My, Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Vu Thi Van Anh, Tran Thi Hong Nhung) will compete from June 22 to 23.
As a result, the Vietnamese female athletes completed their mission excellently by winning both gold medals in the participating events.

Nguyen Thi My (born in 1998) and Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh (born in 2000) are both from Dien Chau district and are veteran athletes of Nghe An Sepak Takraw. Of which, Nguyen Thi My (from Dien Tan commune) has been a member of the Vietnam National Sepak Takraw Team for more than 8 years, winning the Gold Medal at the 2016 Asian Beach Tournament and especially the Gold Medal at the 2022 World Championship, along with many Silver Medals at world tournaments, ASIAD, SEA Games, and Gold Medals at domestic tournaments.
As for Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh (from Dien Hoa commune), it was not until early this year that she was called up to the National Team, despite having won many high achievements in domestic tournaments. The 2023 Asian Sepak Takraw Championship is the first major tournament she has participated in with the National Team.

Previously, at the 9th National Sports Congress in 2022 held in December 2022 in Quang Ninh province, Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh and Nguyen Thi My won Gold Medals in the women's team and women's team of 4 events.
