20,000 businesses return to operation

The General Statistics Office said that in the first nine months of this year, more than 20,000 businesses returned to operation, an increase of 59.6% over the same period last year.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 9 months of this year, the whole country had 81,451 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of 629,100 billion VND, an increase of 19.2% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 49.5% in the registered capital compared to the same period in 2015. Thus, the average registered capital per enterprise reached 7.7 billion VND, an increase of 25.4% compared to the same period last year.

Adding the additional capital, according to the General Statistics Office, in the first 9 months of the year, over 1,789 trillion VND of capital was injected into the economy.

Along with the increase in the number of newly registered enterprises, the total number of registered employees of newly established enterprises in the first 9 months was only 928,700 people, equal to 92.9% of the same period in 2015.

Importantly, in the first 9 months of this year, there were 20,510 enterprises returning to operation, an increase of 59.6% over the same period last year (9 months of 2015 increased by 8.2% over the same period in 2014), bringing the total number of newly registered enterprises and enterprises returning to operation in the first 9 months of this year to nearly 102,000 enterprises.

“This shows that the new legal framework along with the Government's solutions in supporting and encouraging business development have been effective, helping businesses find new directions and development opportunities,” commented Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam, Director General of the General Statistics Office.

The results of the survey on business trends of enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry in the third quarter of 2016 showed that up to 80.3% of enterprises assessed that the production and business situation in the third quarter was quite stable and better than the previous quarter. However, 19.7% of enterprises assessed that they still faced difficulties.

It is forecasted that in the fourth quarter, the production and business situation of enterprises will be more positive than in the third quarter, especially for foreign-invested enterprises and state-owned enterprises.

Specifically, 85.6% of enterprises assessed the production situation as stable and better, of which 48.8% of enterprises assessed the trend to be better; 36.8% of enterprises assessed it as stable, and 14.4% of enterprises predicted more difficulties.
