22 years in prison for drug dealer, gun possession in house

(Baonghean.vn)- After catching Hoang Trung Kien red-handed in the act of illegally buying and selling drugs, the authorities conducted an emergency search of the suspect's residence. There, the police seized 2 guns and 24 bullets of various types.

On December 13, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of Hoang Trung Kien (born in 1984), residing in Hung Trach commune, Bo Trach, Quang Binh, for the crimes of "illegal drug trafficking" and "illegal possession of military weapons".

Defendant Hoang Trung Kien was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

According to the indictment, at 12:15 p.m. on June 30, in front of house number 141, Dang Thai Than Street (Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City), the working group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Team of Vinh City Police discovered and caught Hoang Trung Kien red-handed illegally possessing 126.7 grams of heroin.

During an emergency search of Kien's house in Quang Binh, authorities discovered and seized a K59 military gun, a Record rubber bullet gun, and 24 military bullets.

At the trial, Hoang Trung Kien confessed that he was addicted to drugs, so on the morning of June 30, Kien took a bus to Thanh Hoa City to buy 4 packages of heroin from a person named Ngoc (unknown background and address) for 1,100 USD. When returning to Vinh City, Kien received a phone call from a person named Hoai and agreed to sell Hoai 11 taels of heroin for 13 million VND. On the way to the transaction location, Kien was discovered and arrested by the police.

Considering the case as a whole, the nature and extent of the violation, the panel sentenced Hoang Trung Kien to 20 years in prison for “illegal drug trafficking” and 2 years in prison for “illegal possession of military weapons”. Combined, Hoang Trung Kien must serve a sentence of 22 years in prison.
