3 Vietnamese beauties won high rankings in international beauty contests

Khanh Ngan won the Miss Globe title, Huyen My entered the top 10 of Miss Grand International and Ha Thu was named in the top 16 of Miss Earth.

On November 3, Khanh Ngan was unexpectedly crowned Miss Globe 2017 in Albania. This is the highest achievement of a Vietnamese representative at an international beauty pageant.

This result was not only a surprise to domestic audiences but also to Khanh Ngan herself. The beauty said that she decided to participate in Miss Globe 2017 quite hastily. Sharing her feelings when she was crowned, Khanh Ngan said: "When I first heard the announcement of the title, I couldn't believe it was true, it felt like a dream. When I first decided to compete, I just thought this was a competition to gain more experience and learn before participating in the Miss Tourism 2018 contest. After calming down, I was extremely happy and joyful. I am proud of myself for making a breakthrough and hearing the two words "Vietnam" resound proudly in a foreign land on the final night."

In October 2017, Miss Grand International 2017 was held in Phu Quoc. Huyen My represented Vietnam at this contest and was expected to bring high achievements to the host country. In addition to her lovely face, she also possesses an ideal body with a height of 176cm, three-round measurements of 83-59-93. In the semi-final night, beauty site Global Beauties gave Huyen My a very high score and predicted that she would become the 2nd runner-up. However, in the final on the evening of October 25, Huyen My stopped in the top 10. This is the highest achievement among Vietnamese representatives who have participated in Miss Grand International.

This result was not as expected by Huyen My and her fans. After the final night, Huyen My cried for a long time in the arms of her mother and fans. This action of Huyen My received mixed opinions from the audience as well as the judges of the contest. Designer Sy Hoang and Miss Giang My - Miss Grand International judge - both said that this was an inappropriate action, not showing the hospitality of the host representative at the contest. In an interview, designer Sy Hoang also said that Huyen My showed a spirit of winning or losing by crying too much because of the unsatisfactory result.

Before this noise, Miss Vietnam 2014 explained: "I cried not because I was sad but because I thought I had disappointed the people who loved me. My whole family and many close friends came to Phu Quoc to cheer for me. It was raining quite heavily that day but everyone still sat in the stands to watch. Everyone's affection touched me. After the competition night, when I saw everyone welcoming me with open arms, I couldn't control my emotions."

Ha Thu - Top 16 Miss Earth 2017

In 2017, Ha Thu represented Vietnam at Miss Earth. During the competition, the beauty continuously impressed with her fluent English, confident demeanor and meticulous investment. Not only that, Ha Thu also won a total of 5 medals, second only to the contestant from the host country, the Philippines. She won 3 gold medals in the Beachwear, Miss Photogenic, and Earth Warrior competitions, and 2 bronze medals in the Talent and Evening Gown competitions.

Before the final night, the Vietnamese representative was rated by the beauty website Missosology as the most promising candidate for the Miss Earth 2017 crown. Domestic fans expected Ha Thu to surpass Nam Em's achievement of entering the top 8 a year earlier.

In the end, Ha Thu stopped at the top 16. Sharing her feelings about this result, Ha Thu said: "I am sad and disappointed because what I strived for did not help me achieve my expectations." Although the result was not as expected by Ha Thu and her fans, this is still a great achievement for the Vietnamese representative in the international beauty arena.
