(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 2, the Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to announce the results of the Soshi - Japan scholarship writing round for the best students in Nghe An province in the October 2019 scholarship selection program.

This is the 7th year the program has been held in Nghe An. Through this program, each year dozens of students have received scholarships worth 100%, 50%, 30% for 4 years of major in Japan.

To win the scholarship, in addition to the age requirements and an annual GPA of 6.5 or higher, students must pass two rounds of exams: a 60-minute written exam consisting of two parts: Math, a foreign language test (English or Japanese) and a direct interview with the university's admissions committee.

At the ceremony, leaders of the Department of Education and Training congratulated 32 Nghe An students who had just passed the written exam and were eligible to attend the interview.

Among them, there are 4 students from Nghi Loc 2 High School, 2 students from Le Viet Thuat High School, 5 students from Cua Lo High School, 15 students from Ha Huy Tap High School and 6 students from Do Luong 1 High School. Previously, this exam was implemented nationwide with more than 2,000 students taking the exam and 756 students passed the written exam and were eligible for the interview.

A representative of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training also said: After 7 years of implementation, although the number of students participating in the entrance exam has not increased, the quality of admission is improving day by day and this is an opportunity for Nghe An students to win valuable scholarships. Currently, each year Nghe An has about 900 students studying abroad but only nearly 30 students win scholarships and mainly in English. The number of students studying abroad in Asian countries, including Japan, are mainly self-funded and quite expensive.
