4 Nghe An football teams participate in the 2019 National Youth Football Tournament

In 2018, the SLNA Children's Team (U11 SLNA) defeated U11 Hung Yen in the final to successfully defend the championship. Meanwhile, the U13 SLNA team also excelled in defeating the host PVF to step onto the podium of glory.

Although they are the defending champions, the U11 and U13 SLNA teams still compete in the qualifying round. In addition, Nghe An also has two U11 Hoang Mai Nghe An and U13 Hoang Mai Nghe An teams participating in this tournament.

The Children's Tournament has 45 teams participating in the qualifying round with many emerging youth football academies across the country, U11 SLNA and U11 Hoang Mai Nghe An as hosts in Group II, taking place from May 27 to June 6.

SLNA U13 team is in the same group with PVF, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hoang Mai Nghe An, SHB Da Nang, Quang Nam, Hue, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh. In which, PVF and Hai Duong are considered very strong teams.

Preparing for the upcoming qualifying round taking place at home, U11 SLNA and U13 SLNA had a friendly match with two teams from PVF yesterday (April 25). As a result, U11 SLNA and U13 SLNA won with scores of 1-0 and 7-0.

The National Children's Finals are scheduled to take place in Dak Lak from July 24 to August 2 and the Youth Finals in Nghe An from July 5 to July 15.

In the history of the tournament, U11 SLNA has won 4 championships in 2001; 2002; 2017; 2018 and U13 SLNA has won 6 championships (national record) in 1997; 1998; 2003; 2013, 2014, 2018.
