5 simple steps to clean your air conditioner yourself

After a period of use, our air conditioner will have dirt that reduces its capacity. Most people will call a technician to repair and clean it. In theory, calling a technician like this is very good because they will do all the steps to clean the machine, check the machine shell, electrical connections and the ventilation capacity of the hot/cold system... But in reality, there have been many cases where after calling a technician, you lose money, waste time, and sometimes even get frustrated, while you can completely do it yourself, with just 5 steps.
According to experts, every year we have to clean the air conditioner at least 1 to 2 times to ensure the function of use, otherwise the cold air will be very weak, not cold. In some cases, it even damages the heat dissipation unit in the machine, or the cold unit does not exchange heat, leading to too cold, causing condensation and water leakage. So do it now:
Step 1
- Turn off all power supply to the air conditioner to ensure safety during cleaning;
- Then you hang a bag with a wide enough mouth to catch the running water and dirt during cleaning;
- Check the hot and cold units inside and outside the house to make sure there are no foreign objects inside the machine (for example: dead insects...)
Step 2
Use your hands to gently press on the latches to remove the air filter in the air conditioner, then soak it in a large basin of water and use a dishwashing sponge to scrub the filter, let it dry completely.
Step 3
Outside the fan blades and the engine block is a protective system, although sparse, it also needs to be cleaned regularly to remove obstacles. If possible, you buy a Coil Cleaner spray (a type of alkaline liquid specially formulated for quickly cleaning aluminum heat sink fins), spray lightly into the gaps between the metal fins, avoid spraying on the electronic circuit board of the air conditioner. After spraying, you leave the detergent to take effect, about 10 to 20 minutes, then wipe the blades with a damp cloth.
Step 4
Use a dry cloth to thoroughly dry the parts that can be cleaned, take the drained filter and the air conditioner cover and reinstall them, then wipe the entire outside clean.
Step 5
Turn the air conditioner back on, letting the remaining water drain out. Once you have determined that the machine is running smoothly and without any strange noises, remove the dust bag, and your air conditioner will be clean from the outside in.
