In 5 years, Nghe An Border Guard saved 423 lives

Over the past 5 years, with the attention of leaders at all levels, sectors, local authorities and people in the area, awareness of rescue work, incident response and natural disasters of commanders at all levels and officers and soldiers has been increasingly improved.
The organizational system and disaster prevention command boards at all levels in the Border Guard are regularly strengthened and improved, professional qualifications are raised, and equipment meets the requirements of assigned tasks.
Coordination between the Border Guard and functional forces, government agencies, and departments from central to local levels in organizing natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters is increasingly effective.

In the past 5 years, in the border area of Nghe An province, there have been 9 storms, 331 tornadoes, 56 forest fires, house fires, 26 flash floods, landslides and 243 machine failures, accidents at sea, falling into the sea and ship fires.
Incident response, natural disaster response and search and rescue work in Nghe An Border Guard has always been closely and effectively implemented. The Provincial Border Guard has coordinated with local authorities and joint forces to directly participate in 236 cases; used 5,266 officers and soldiers; 153 vehicles, rescued 423 people, 52 vehicles, repaired 722 houses...
At the conference, delegates also pointed out difficulties and obstacles in implementing incident response, natural disaster response and search and rescue work; and proposed solutions to improve performance in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Major General Nguyen Van Nam - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Border Guard requested Party committees and commanders of units to successfully complete the work of responding to incidents, natural disasters and search and rescue from now until the end of 2018 and the following years.
