5 years of detecting, arresting and handling 124 cases of law violations
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 13, the Provincial Border Guard Command held a conference to review 5 years of implementing the coordination regulations between the Customs Department and the Provincial Border Guard Command. Colonel Tran Hai Binh - Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command and Chu Quang Luan - Director of the Customs Department co-chaired.
Attending the conference were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, the Provincial Party Committee Office; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Station and Customs Sub-Departments at border gates in the province.

Nghe An is a center of trade and tourism exchange between the North and the South and other countries in the region; has a 419 km long land border adjacent to the three provinces of Bolykhamxay, Xieng Khouang and Hua Phan of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; a 82 km long coastal border. On the two borders of the province, there are 2 international border gates; 1 main border gate; 3 secondary border gates; 4 border openings and many border crossing points; many river mouths and estuaries leading to the mainland.
That is the potential and advantage for Nghe An to develop its economy in the fields of land resources, forest resources, mining, tourism, fishing, aquaculture, seafood... Besides the advantages, there are also many hidden difficulties and challenges, especially in the issues of political security, social order and safety, smuggling, and trade fraud...
After signing the coordination regulations, the two sides regularly exchanged information and activities of criminals and law violators as well as their plots, methods and tricks, especially crimes against national security, violations, illegal border crossings, at sea and crimes of trafficking and illegal transportation of drugs, buying and selling of children and women abroad; weapons, explosives, foreign currencies, counterfeit money, secret State documents, harmful cultural products and other types of crimes at border gates, borders and seaports.
Coordinate the exchange of experiences on inspection and control methods, crime prevention work, share information on the situation, professional expertise in managing road border gates and seaports. Provide data on people, means of transport entering and exiting the country (XNC), import and export turnover (XNK), information on the number of taxpayers... to monitor the situation, detect loopholes and shortcomings in the performance of each side's tasks. From there, the two sides have a unified assessment of key areas and subjects, propose forms and measures to combat, prevent, stop and handle promptly...
Specifically, over the past 5 years, the two forces have exchanged hundreds of information, including 36 sources of information that have helped both sides deploy effective coordination plans.
In 5 years, we have coordinated 98 patrols and controls to protect sovereignty and security of the border and sea areas; completed entry and exit procedures for 791,241 people and 193,720 vehicle trips on the border; controlled 420,684 tons of goods of all kinds; temporarily imported and re-exported 63,813 tons of gasoline.
At sea, the two units coordinated to carry out immigration and import-export procedures, and inspected and controlled more than 1,952 vehicle trips; 24,029 crew members entering and exiting the country;
From 2012 to 2017, we coordinated to detect, arrest and handle 124 cases/132 subjects. Of which, 19 cases/19 subjects, the seized evidence was 69 kg of firecrackers; 6,500 packs of cigarettes; more than 2 billion VND, 1 cake + 90 grams of heroin, 1.8 kg of opium resin, 4,025 synthetic drug pills; administratively sanctioned 105 cases/113 subjects, paid to the state treasury 613 million VND.

The conference also proposed directions for coordination in the coming time such as synchronously implementing working measures, enhancing information exchange; strengthening solidarity and mutual assistance; continuing to direct Border Guard Stations and Customs Sub-Departments at border gates to do a good job of coordinating joint patrols, inspections and controls at border gates and border gate areas; coordinating to promote propaganda, dissemination and legal education for people in border gate areas; strictly maintaining the regime of periodic and ad hoc meetings according to signed regulations...
