50th anniversary of Do Luong II High School: A place where beliefs and dreams converge

(Baonghean) - Do Luong II High School is located on Bach Ngoc land by the poetic Lam River, now hamlet 4, Lam Son commune, Do Luong district. After 50 years of construction and development, the school has a long history of activities that are worthy of respect and proud of its achievements.

In 1965, Do Luong High School was divided into Do Luong High School I and Do Luong High School II. During the fierce war against the US, Do Luong High School II was located in Ngoc Son commune, studying in the huts and churches of the people, then moved to Lam Son commune. After the war, with the attention of the Party and the State, the people contributed to "tiling"; up to now, the school has a spacious, airy campus with 2 rows of 3-storey buildings with more than 40 classrooms; a 2-storey administrative area, a library with more than 10,000 books, 2 computer rooms, 3 practice rooms, volleyball, soccer, badminton, table tennis courts... The school yard is tiled with clean, beautiful tiles, with green trees all year round.

The process of building and developing the school goes hand in hand with the process of protecting and building the country. In 1973 - 1976, the school received class 8C - specialized in Mathematics from the province. Notably, many teachers and students of the school went to war, 8 students sacrificed their youth for their homeland and country.

Since its inception, the school had only 6 classes for grades 8, 9 and 10; over time the number of classes increased, at one point reaching 48. In the 2014-2015 school year, the school had 36 classes with 1,370 students; the staff consisted of 93 people, including 13 masters, 10 teachers studying for masters, 76 university graduates, the Party cell had 54 party members, and 19 teachers were excellent teachers at the provincial level.

Many teachers have achieved many outstanding achievements in the emulation movement, winning the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level, excellent homeroom teacher. In the 2014-2015 school year, 5 teachers received Certificates of Merit from the province. Scientific research and experience-based innovation (SKKN) is a bright spot of the province. Recently, the school has had 3 SKKN at the provincial level, 28 SKKN at the industry level, in the 2014-2015 school year alone, 5 SKKN were recognized at the industry level, 2 scientific innovations won the third prize of the province.

Although located in a mountainous area, the learning conditions of students are still difficult, but with a team of enthusiastic teachers, solid expertise, and good coordination between the board of directors, trade unions, school youth union... teachers and students of Do Luong II High School have gradually overcome difficulties to improve the quality of education and achieved remarkable achievements: Training 47 courses of students with thousands of students graduating; the rate of comprehensive students is increasingly improved, only in the 2014 - 2015 school year reaching 12.1%; the number of excellent students in the province has increased significantly in terms of awards and quantity as in the 2011 - 2012 school year reaching 74%, including 3 Second prizes, 15 Third prizes and 2 Encouragement prizes; The rate of students passing the university entrance exam is increasing, including 2 students who scored 29.5 points in block A (school year 2004 - 2005), many students who took the B, C, D exams scored 24 points or more, including 1 student who received a certificate of merit and a reward from the Provincial People's Committee; the rate of students passing the graduation exam for many consecutive years is over 99%, in the 2014 - 2015 school year it reached 96.9%.

Besides focusing on teaching, the school's mass organizations also pay attention to the spiritual life of staff and teachers, such as annually organizing tours, cooking competitions, flower arranging, and meeting the bride and groom to create good relationships within the group. Actively building a "Green - Clean - Beautiful" learning environment and a "Friendly School, Active Students"; participating and achieving high results in external activities on physical education and sports, and competitions to learn about revolutionary traditions. In the competition "Learning about the traditions of 50 Do Luong districts" and the competition "Learning about the 70th founding anniversary of the Army and the National Defense Day", the school won the first prize for the whole group. The school also focuses on fostering the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" through specific activities such as taking care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, meeting teachers at the beginning of the year... creating an environment for teachers and students to strive to study and practice, contributing to bringing the school's education and training work towards comprehensiveness, quality and efficiency.

The school has generations of students who have grown up and made important contributions to the homeland. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, many people sacrificed and devoted their whole lives to the people and the country; some were awarded the title of general such as Major General Le Dinh Hung, from Luu Son commune, now the Principal of the Information Technology Officer School; some were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces such as Heroic Martyr Le Huu Hoe, from Lam Son commune. Many people have become successful, becoming professors, doctors, engineers, physicians, writers. Many people have been assigned by the Party and State to hold important positions in the country such as: Former Deputy Minister of Trade Le Danh Vinh, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong, Doctor Nguyen Canh Son, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Pham Van Thanh, Associate Professor - Doctor Dau Van Ngo; the late Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Tran Ky;...

During the 50 years of construction and development, Do Luong II High School has been recognized as "Advanced Labor Collective" for many consecutive years, the Party cell has achieved the title of "Clean and Strong", the trade union has achieved the title of "Excellently Strong", the school's excellent union has received a Certificate of Merit from the Central Youth Union, a Certificate of Merit from the Industry Trade Union and a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee for drug prevention work... These are proud awards that teachers and students of Do Luong II High School are making more efforts to promote, overcome difficulties of "good teaching, good learning", strive to effectively implement the program and goals set forth in Resolution 29 of the Politburo on education, contributing to the cause of innovation and national construction in the period of integration and development.
