60 years, cured 1,700 people with leprosy
(Baonghean.vn) – Over the past 60 years, Quynh Lap Central Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital has received over 3,000 leprosy patients and cured 1,700 people.
The information was given at the 60th anniversary celebration and reception of the First Class Labor Medal of the Hospital.

Attending the ceremony were Professor, Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien - Deputy Minister of Health; on the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities. |
Quynh Lap Central Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital is a unit under the Ministry of Health, located in Hoang Mai Town. The hospital was established and received the first leprosy patient on April 20, 1957; performing the task of treating, caring for and nurturing leprosy patients in the northern provinces, soldiers, civil servants nationwide, and performing international duties for leprosy patients in Laos and Cambodia.
During 60 years of construction and development, Quynh Lap Central Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital has always excellently fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Party and the State; received, treated, cared for and nurtured over 3,000 leprosy patients; cured and discharged over 1,700 patients.

Currently, the hospital not only examines and treats leprosy and dermatology patients at the highest level in the North Central region, but has also developed other specialties such as obstetrics, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and maxillofacial surgery. The hospital aims to become a grade 1 specialized hospital in the near future.
With many achievements in health care for the people; preventing and repelling leprosy, Quynh Lap Central Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital has been awarded many noble titles by the Party, the State, the Ministry of Health, and the People's Committee of Nghe An province. In 2017, the Hospital continued to be awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President for the second time.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Viet Tien and Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Huy acknowledged the efforts of generations of hospital staff in caring for and treating leprosy patients; expressed the hope that hospital staff would uphold tradition, uphold solidarity, actively improve their expertise and medical ethics, and aim for patient satisfaction./.
