Citing back pain and a swollen knee, the former South Korean president refused to appear at the November 27 hearing to hear the prosecution present evidence accusing Ms. Park of accepting bribes, the Straits Times reported.
The trial was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on November 27, but Park did not appear, according to the Seoul District Court. The trial will continue today.
The trial of the 65-year-old former South Korean president has been suspended since mid-October after all seven of her defense lawyers withdrew their requests to protest the court's decision to extend Park's detention by six months. The court signed the order to extend her detention because of concerns that the former president could destroy evidence if released.

On the morning of November 27, a Malaysian doctor testified at the trial of Doan Thi Huong and Siti Aisyah on charges of murdering a North Korean citizen believed to be Kim Jong-nam, the older brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
According to AP, Ms. Nurliza Abdullah, one of the two doctors who performed the autopsy on the body of "Kim Jong-nam", testified in court that the victim's pupils were constricted, and that there was a lot of feces in his underwear. These are two signs that the victim was poisoned, the female doctor said.
"Based on the autopsy and laboratory results, the cause of death is definitely VX nerve agent poisoning," said Nurliza Abdullah. This testimony coincided with the previous witness who testified when the autopsy report was presented in court.

On November 27, when visiting the area where North Korean soldiers had defected at the village of Panmunjom, South Korean Defense Minister Song Young Moo said: "Aiming at a defector and firing toward the south is a violation of the armistice agreement. Crossing the military demarcation line is already a violation. Bringing a rifle into the Joint Security Area (JSA) is another violation."
Technically, South Korea and North Korea are still at war after the 1950-1953 war. No peace treaty has been signed in more than 60 years.
South Korean media and military released two North Korean bullet holes in a South Korean building in the area as visible evidence, alongside "living proof" of the defected soldier.
Reuters news agency reported that Mr. Song went to the JSA to commend six South Korean and American soldiers who rescued a soldier who defected from North Korea.

On November 27, the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) said that it had discovered eight bodies on a wooden boat that had washed ashore in Akita Prefecture, northern Japan. According to the JCG, the wooden boat was discovered on the morning of November 26 and may have originated from North Korea.
The boat is the latest in a series of recent incidents to be found washed up on the Japanese coast. It appears to be a different shape to the North Korean fishing vessel found last week at a marina about 70km south of the latest discovery.
