During the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of Nham Dan 2022 (from January 29 to February 6, from December 27 of the year of Tan Suu to January 6 of the year of Nham Dan), there were 216 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 121 people and injuring 138 people.
Compared to the same period in 2021, there were 17 fewer cases (7.3%), 14 fewer deaths (10.4%), and 29 fewer injuries (17.4%). The above information was provided by the Traffic Police Department.
Of the accidents, 214 occurred on roads, killing 120 people and injuring 137. There were 2 accidents on railways, killing 1 person and injuring 1 person.
During the Lunar New Year holiday this year, traffic police of various units and localities inspected, detected and handled 25,723 violations; imposed fines of over VND25 billion; detained 110 cars, 4,277 motorbikes; revoked 2,127 driving licenses of all kinds. Some localities had high results in handling violations such as Thanh Hoa with 1,952 cases, Hanoi with 1,099 cases, Binh Dinh with 1,051 cases, Tra Vinh with 844 cases, Ho Chi Minh City with 767 cases, and Soc Trang with 636 cases.
Of which, on the road, 25,508 violations were inspected, detected and handled; fines of over VND 25 billion were imposed; 110 cars and 4,277 motorbikes were detained; 2,127 driving licenses of all kinds were revoked. Of which, the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Teams under the Traffic Police Department inspected, detected and handled 103 violations, fined nearly VND 400 million, revoked driving licenses of 54 cases; 1,418 violations were detected through the camera surveillance system, 39 cases were recorded, and 1,379 cases were notified of violations.

About the violationalcohol concentration, there were 1,676 cases handled (accounting for 6.6% of the total number of violations of traffic order and safety). Some localities handled violations of high alcohol concentration such as Thanh Hoa 211 cases, Yen Bai 141 cases, Soc Trang 131 cases, Binh Dinh 82 cases. There were 6 cases of drivers testing positive for drugs detected and handled (An Giang 4 cases, Yen Bai and Phu Yen each 1 case).
Localities have inspected and handled 215 cases of violations on waterways; fines of more than 100 million VND have been imposed.
Through patrolling, controlling and handling violations, the Traffic Police force directly and in coordination with functional forces arrested 23 criminal cases, 32 subjects of drug trafficking and possession, and handed them over to the investigation agency for handling.
