(Baonghean.vn) – On the afternoon of November 10, Nghe An Department of Health held a conference to summarize 1 year of implementing the 90-90-90 Plan and deploy the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in 2016.

Attending the conference were representatives of the international organization USAID SHIFT and medical units in the province.

In the first 9 months of 2016, Nghe An discovered 431 new HIV-infected people, bringing the total number of HIV-infected people to 8,496, of which 4,740 are still living and managed. In the province, 440/480 communes, wards and towns in 21/21 districts, cities and towns have HIV-infected people.

Nghe An is one of five provinces and cities implementing the 90-90-90 approach strategy of the United Nations HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Program, aiming to end the AIDS pandemic by 2030.

Nghe An set the target: From 2015 to 2017, 90% of people infected with HIV know their infection status (estimated number of people infected alive in Nghe An is 7,245); 90% of people diagnosed with HIV (estimated 5,868 people) receive ARV treatment; 90% of people on ARV treatment (estimated 5,281 people) have suppressed viral load.

Starting to implement the 90-90-90 plan from October 1, 2015, with the support of international organizations, Nghe An has established and perfected the system from prevention to treatment care in 100% of districts; Diversified access models and closely linked access to HIV services; Strengthened HIV testing and treatment activities; Implemented steps for health insurance examination and treatment for people infected with HIV.

Up to now, Nghe An has achieved 73% of the target of HIV infected people knowing their infection status. By the end of 2017, 1,780 more people need to be detected; 61% of the target of people diagnosed with HIV receiving ARV treatment; 50% of the target of people on ARV treatment with suppressed viral load (treatment for over 12 months).

In the second year of implementing the 90-90-90 Plan, Nghe An continues to carry out mobile outreach - testing and treatment campaigns at key activities; Improve the quality of HIV testing and counseling services in hospitals and improve the connection and referral of patients to treatment facilities; Strengthen treatment activities and maintain case management...
