Nghia Mai Commune is one of the mountainous areas with many difficulties in Nghia Dan District, with more than 70% of ethnic minorities living there. Through screening, the commune found 49 households needing support to build houses, of which 47 households are building new houses and 2 households are repairing. To date, the commune has handed over 14 houses to households for use.

Old age, living alone in a dilapidated house but not having the conditions to repair or rebuild, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet in Gian village, Nghia Mai commune is a poor household receiving housing support from Nghia Dan district. The district coordinated with TH Group to donate 50 million VND from the For Vietnamese Stature Fund. At the same time, Nghia Mai commune mobilized brothers, neighbors and benefactors to donate to help Ms. Tuyet. After many efforts, the house was handed over in July 2023 for Ms. Tuyet to use, with a total cost of nearly 100 million VND.

“Before, every time there was a storm, I was very worried that the house would leak or collapse due to strong winds. With the support of authorities at all levels, units, relatives, and neighbors, I was able to build a spacious and clean house. My dream of many years has come true...” - Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet said happily.

In Nghia Hong commune, comrade Nguyen Dinh Thai - Secretary of Nghia Hong commune Party Committee said: To achieve the goal of completing the housing support program for poor households by 2025, the locality thoroughly disseminated documents from higher levels and the commune to cadres and party members. The commune established a Steering Committee to assign members to be in charge of hamlets; mobilized resources with a total budget of 262 million VND to support the construction and repair of houses for poor households.
In addition to mobilizing cash, the commune mobilized labor days to support the construction of houses for the poor. According to the plan in 2023, the commune handed over 2 houses to 2 households in the form of new construction, but by November 2023, the commune had handed over 4 houses; the commune will complete the support for building houses for poor households in the area in 2024.

Mobilizing and promoting resources effectively

Implementing the program to mobilize and support the construction of houses for the poor and people with housing difficulties, according to the 2023 - 2025 plan, Nghia Dan district will focus on building new houses and repairing 320 houses for poor households and extremely disadvantaged households without houses (213 poor households, 82 near-poor households and 25 households with housing difficulties). With the great efforts of the Mobilization Committees at all levels, up to now, the district has handed over 71 newly built houses to poor households and households with housing difficulties; the lowest support is 50 million VND, the highest is 80 million VND; 11 houses have been repaired.

Mr. Vo Quang Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghia Dan district said: Determining this is a task of the entire Party Committee and government at all levels with profound humanity, the Steering Committees at all levels in the district focus on mobilizing all resources to build new and repair houses for the poor and those with housing difficulties. With the initial results, the work of building houses for the poor in Nghia Dan district has affirmed the spread of the effectiveness and success of the program.

To achieve the goal of completing 320 houses for households with housing difficulties by 2025, in the coming time, the Steering Committee for the mobilization of housing construction for the poor and people with housing difficulties at all levels continues to call on all cadres, party members, businesses, philanthropists and people to join hands to contribute and support the poor and people with housing difficulties in the district, step by step helping people with difficult circumstances stabilize their lives and escape poverty sustainably.
