Amorim won the first match at Old Trafford but MU still has many dark spots
A 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford gave Ruben Amorim a successful debut, but still exposed many problems that MU need to overcome.

Ruben Amorim made a memorable start to his reign as Manchester United manager with a 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford in the Europa League. It was his first win in charge of his new club, a result that brought some relief after initial doubts. However, despite the joy of victory, the game also exposed a number of weaknesses that need to be addressed if United are to return to form for the rest of the season.
Manchester United started the game with enthusiasm, and the difference came in the 81st second. Rasmus Hojlund, after a quiet spell, combined perfectly with Alejandro Garnacho to score the opener. The goal was testament to the fast-start tactics that Ruben Amorim has been keen to implement since taking charge.
However, the euphoria was short-lived as the home side paid the price with two quick goals in just five minutes. A perfect long-range strike from Hakon Evjen and an easy finish from Philipp Zinckernagel after a defensive error put Manchester United at a disadvantage. The old problems, especially the lack of solidity in defence, were present once again, as was the challenge Ruben Amorim faced.
However, Rasmus Hojlund's brilliance proved to be a saviour in a match that was anything but easy. The young striker proved his worth with two decisive goals. In the 45th minute, he volleyed a pass from Noussair Mazraoui to level the score at 2-2 before half-time.
In the second half, Hojlund completed his double with a precise finish after a well-coordinated move, sealing a thrilling 3-2 victory for the home team. This performance not only helped Hojlund regain his form but also demonstrated the understanding between him and his teammates in the new tactical system.

Alejandro Garnacho, while not as impressive as Hojlund, still impressed with his pace and skill. He not only contributed to the opening goal but also kept the opposition defence on their toes with his tricky dribbles. Mason Mount, returning to the starting line-up, also showed his influence with a number of dangerous assists, including a shot that hit the crossbar. These standout individuals provided some positive signs, although the win did not hide the team's problems.
The defense is still a big concern as MU easily let their opponents exploit them on the counter-attack. Both goals conceded came from a lack of organization and individual mistakes, especially Tyrell Malacia's poor performance after more than a year away from the pitch due to injury. In addition, the use of Bruno Fernandes in the central midfield position has not been as effective as expected, as this player lacks the necessary defensive support in quick transition situations. This shows that Ruben Amorim will have to reconsider his tactics, especially when the team has to face stronger opponents.
Although there is still room for improvement, this victory has given Manchester United fans confidence. The outstanding performances of young talents such as Hojlund and Garnacho have sparked hope for a bright future under the leadership of Ruben Amorim. This is only the beginning, but he and his students certainly know that there is a lot of work to do to bring Manchester United back to the top.
