The entire Binh Son commune has 213.4 hectares of sugarcane, of which 150 hectares have been damaged by dung beetles. The density of dung beetles on sugarcane areas is commonly 10 beetles/m2, especially in high places it is 50 beetles/m2. To prevent dung beetles from damaging sugarcane, the locality has directed people to spray pesticides such as Diazan 10GR, Basudin 10H, padan 5G...; at the same time, implement measures such as trapping lights to kill adult black dung beetles, digging to catch 3rd instar dung beetles, and collecting larvae.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture of Anh Son district, the district currently has 1,079 hectares of sugarcane (of which 433 hectares are newly planted, 238 hectares are replanted, and 398 trees are kept); concentrated in the communes of Thanh Son, Tho Son, Binh Son, Hoa Son... However, in Anh Son district, only Binh Son commune has dung beetles destroying sugarcane.

Sugarcane growing areas that actively irrigate should bring water into the fields to soak the adult insects to the surface and kill them, then drain the water from the sugarcane fields.
