After the Lunar New Year, at this time, Mr. Tran Van Hai's family in village 2, Hoi Son commune is harvesting the last batch of golden Kim Nhan oranges of the season to deliver to customers in time.
Mr. Hai shared: His family has 7 hectares of hilly land, located at the foot of Me hill, he has planned this entire area to plant 3,500 Kim Nhan orange trees, currently 1,700 trees have been harvested and the rest are in the basic construction period. With more than 20 years of experience growing oranges and having access to most of the famous orange varieties on the market, Mr. Hai affirmed that currently Kim Nhan orange specialty is stillstaple crops, bringing high economic value to the family.

According to Mr. Hai, his family's Kim Nhan orange garden is a native tree, naturally selected over decades and exists to this day. Currently, his family's Kim Nhan orange garden has been recognized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An province and the Council for Selection of the first-generation tree of Nghe An province.the first treemeet the standards for grafting buds to produce seedlings.
His family's Kim Nhan orange products have been granted VietGAP certification and are ranked 3 stars in the OCOP program for each commune, one product. Thanks to investment and proper care, this year's orange products have a lot of fruit, are free from pests, and have large, even, and beautiful fruits. The whole crop is expected to yield 17 tons of fruit, with prices at the garden ranging from 30,000 to 80,000 VND/kg, depending on the time and fruit classification. After deducting expenses, Mr. Hai's family earned more than 600 million VND.

These days, the Sen orange garden of Mr. Hoang Dinh Quyen's family in village 9, Khai Son commune is also busy harvesting the last batches of oranges for customers to order.
Mr. Quyen said: The family currently has 400 Sen orange trees for harvest. Every year, many customers come to the garden to buy this type of orange to eat or give as gifts. In order for the orange tree to grow sustainably, the family not only pays attention to the care stage to bring consumers the best quality oranges, but also applies science and technology to care right from the beginning of the season, at the same time proactively fertilizing, finding ways to delay the ripening of oranges to sell them right before, during and after Tet.
This year, his family's orange crop is estimated to be nearly 8 tons; During the traditional Tet holiday, the price was from 50,000 to 70,000 VND/kg. However, the current price has cooled down to an average of only 20,000 to 50,000 VND/kg, depending on the model. After deducting expenses, the family earned 300 million VND.

Currently, the Bu orange in Anh Son is widely grown in the two communes of Hoi Son and Khai Son. The characteristics of these two orange varieties are that they are resistant to disease, drought and waterlogging better than other citrus trees. Oranges ripen before, during and after Tet, starting from the beginning of the 12th lunar month and lasting until the end of January of the following year. When ripe, the peel is orange-red, has a rich sweet taste, slightly sour, salty, the orange segments are soft and dry. The average yield is 50-70 kg/tree; some trees yield 100-300 kg/tree.
With such characteristics, in recent years, the oranges in Anh Son have been very popular with consumers. This year's orange crop is expected to yield more than 300 tons, bringing in an expected revenue of over 20 billion VND for farmers. Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Anh Son district said: Identifying the potential and advantages of Kim Nhan and Sen orange varieties in economic development and poverty reduction, the District People's Committee has developed a project to develop fruit trees with high economic value in the district for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, focusing on restoring, storing, preserving seed sources and developing the orange growing area to meet consumer demand.
In addition, recently, Anh Son district together with the relevant departments have completed the steps to recognize the parent trees with 2 varieties of Kim Nhan and Sen oranges to serve well the expansion of local production area with guaranteed and high-quality seed sources. The district also directed the Farmers' Association of Hoi Son commune and Khai Son commune to establish 2 cooperatives for growing oranges, thereby creating close links in the process of consuming, introducing and promoting products, contributing to increasing income for members in the cooperatives.
