(Baonghean.vn) - Successful in planning and developing specialized industrial crop areas, Anh Son district has gradually affirmed the advantages of three main crops: tea, sugarcane and cassava. At the same time, the district has done a very good job of linking production to processing and consumption.

Sustainable development of raw material areas

The production raw material area plays a decisive role in the survival of processing enterprises. Therefore, although Anh Son district has more than 5,000 hectares of key industrial crops such as cassava, sugarcane, tea, etc., it has not yet met the full operating capacity of a number of factories in the field of processing these crops. The urgent task in Anh Son district is to plan and quickly develop specialized areas and focus on improving crop productivity and output. This is an important basis for the district to boldly plan to expand the area in the direction of forming specialized areas; at the same time, attract projects to produce and process the district's advantageous products.

After surveying and studying the actual situation of the locality, Anh Son district has developed a project to develop tea, sugarcane, and cassava for the period 2021-2025 and orientation to 2030. Accordingly, by 2025, the district will have 5,390 hectares of key industrial crops, of which tea is 2,990 hectares, with an output of 39,200 tons (of which 600 hectares apply high technology); sugarcane is 1,500 hectares, with an output of 117,000 - 135,000 tons/year (of which 500 hectares apply high technology); Cassava is 900 hectares, with an output of 25,000-27,000 tons/year (of which 450 hectares apply high technology) and by 2030 the raw material area will be expanded to 5,937 hectares (tea: 3,337 hectares; sugarcane: 1,700 hectares; cassava 900 hectares (of which about 2,500 hectares apply high technology).

To quickly implement this important project, the district established a Steering Committee and a Working Group (headed by the Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee in charge of economic affairs). With the determination of relevant levels and sectors, along with the organization of the project's implementation to the grassroots and people, the district also issued documents to urge units to implement the project, directing the People's Committees of communes and towns to review land funds, allocate targets, and develop plans for raw material areas according to the issued production and processing project.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Giang - Deputy Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: The project to develop tea, sugarcane, and cassava for the period of 2021-2025 and towards 2030 is highly supported by localities and people, so it should be implemented quickly and effectively. In Binh Son commune, the District People's Committee based on the existing land fund and the actual conditions of the commune to assign targets and annual implementation plans and in the project. Thereby, Binh Son commune focused on directing the review of land funds, evaluating the effectiveness of the area of land for growing other crops with low efficiency, so from an area of 120 hectares of sugarcane, the commune converted and rotated crops, planting 160 - 170 hectares of sugarcane..Thanks to that, developing a large sugarcane material area, creating a breakthrough in agricultural restructuring and local socio-economic development, increasing income per unit area for people.

After more than 1 year of implementing the Project on developing tea, sugarcane and cassava for the period 2021-2025 and orientation to 2030, Anh Son district has gradually promoted its potential and advantages, actively applied scientific and technical advances, and mechanized production to increase the area, productivity and output of key industrial crops in the area; attracted many investors in the livestock sector, specifically: In 2021: Cassava area increased by 4%, output increased by 17% over the same period; tea area increased by 6.8%, output increased by 49.2% over the same period; sugarcane area increased by 11.1%, output increased by 26.6% over the same period. From the beginning of 2022 to now, sugarcane area increased by 11%, cassava increased by 29.6%, tea increased by 5% over the same period.

Production linked with processing and consumption

Standing on a land that is very favorable for industrial crop development, over the years, Song Lam Sugar Joint Stock Company has not only effectively exploited the land specializing in sugarcane cultivation (currently in the district there are nearly 1,300 hectares of sugarcane) to serve sugar production, but recently, it has also boldly invested 127 billion VND to build a tea processing factory with advanced and modern technology, processing capacity of 5,000 tons of products/year, including many products such as green tea, orthodox tea, CTC black tea, Tencha tea. Each year, it consumes 22,000 - 24,000 tons of fresh raw tea for farmers. In particular, to develop sustainably, enhance the value of goods and the brand of Anh Son tea, the company cooperates with foreign enterprises to process high-quality tea.

Currently, with an area of over 2,500 hectares of industrial tea, of which over 2,080 hectares are commercial tea, this is an important condition to support tea processing units to stabilize production and to enhance the value of Anh Son tea brand. The district continues to build a large specialized tea growing area, with a structure of new varieties, high productivity and quality, creating a strong attraction for investors to build processing factories with large capacity and modern technology.

One of the typical enterprises in Anh Son district in the field of processing and consuming local products is Asia Hoa Son Joint Stock Company. As a subsidiary of Asia Food Group with experience in the field of cassava starch processing, when investing in building a factory in Anh Son district, the enterprise focused on developing a large raw material area and closely linking with the people through appropriate mechanisms and policies, transferring science and technology, investing in new varieties, purchasing products in a timely manner, ensuring 100% consumption of products... With that approach, people in the raw material area are truly assured, attached to this crop, no longer being squeezed in price due to dependence on traders as before...

Currently, in Anh Son district, the raw material area covers nearly 1,400 hectares of cassava. To ensure sufficient raw materials for the company's production, the Provincial People's Committee approved the planning of raw material areas in 4 districts: Anh Son, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Ky Son with a total area of 3,350 hectares. In 2022, the company is expected to purchase 120,000 tons of fresh cassava and produce 34,000 tons of starch from fresh cassava roots, 10,000 tons of starch from cassava slices.

The successful implementation of the cassava starch processing project is the driving force for Asia Hoa Son Joint Stock Company to continue investing in building a glucose liquid sugar production line (total investment of more than 15 million USD). The project has modern technology and the new product launched (in mid-2021) is very positively received by the market, meeting the requirements of the food processing, milk, confectionery, etc. fields.

With the success in planning, investing in construction and developing key industrial crop material areas, Anh Son district has effectively restructured agriculture, increased production value and added value in the direction of building clean, green, circular agriculture, applying high technology, especially closely linking from production to processing and consumption.
