Goals for Man City: Aguero (18'), Kompany (58'), David Silva (65')
Unlike their Premier League encounter last November, manager Arsene Wenger opted for an attacking approach to take on Man City. This helped the opening minutes of the match to be exciting. Sergio Aguero (Man City) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) both had clear scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize.
Overall, the early stages of the match were quite balanced. Arsenal controlled Kevin de Bruyne quite well on the opposing side. In addition, the Gunners also had quite a few threatening moments on goal, thanks to the mobility of Mesut Oezil and Jack Wilshere playing behind Aubameyang.

Just when Arsenal thought they could rest easy, they were suddenly ambushed by a rather unexpected situation. From a long kick by goalkeeper Ederson, Arsenal's central defender Shkodran Mustafi was off guard and did not approach Aguero. Thanks to that, the Argentine striker had the opportunity to run down and finish over the head of goalkeeper Ospina, who was rushing out, to open the score of the match.
That goal was like a bucket of cold water on the London guns. In the minutes that followed, Arsenal became unsteady and no longer created the necessary pressure on the opponent's field. Meanwhile, Man City played comfortably and had quite a few dangerous threats, thanks to the skillful passing of Leroy Sane and David Silva. However, no more goals were scored until the two teams entered the break.
With a relaxed mentality, Man City became more dominant in the second half. They pushed Arsenal to a corner of the field and continuously attacked. In that attacking game, Coach Guardiola's team had no difficulty widening the gap.
By the 65th minute, the game was over when Man City took a 3-0 lead, after goals from Vincent Kompany and David Silva. That huge gap seemed to discourage the Gunners. Arsenal responded weakly in the remaining minutes.
In the end, Man City defeated Arsenal 3-0 to win the League Cup. This is the first title that Coach Guardiola has won as the captain of Man City. The League Cup just won can be a sign of a successful season. Currently, Man City is playing well in both the Premier League and the Champions League and Coach Guardiola is likely to win more titles when the 2017/18 season ends.
