To prevent the risk of corona virus infection, authorities disinfect and clean the machines and traffic police use gloves and masks when measuring alcohol concentration.

Regarding people's concerns about the spread of the Corona virus through breathalyzers, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung - Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee said that experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) have stated that technically, breathalyzers have one-way valves so they can only be blown in and not inhaled.

Furthermore, according to Mr. Hung, during the test, each person being tested is given a new breathalyzer, so there is no risk of infection for the person being tested, so there is no need to stop the alcohol concentration test.

To prevent traffic police officers from being infected with the Corona virus while on duty, Mr. Hung recommended that before a patrol shift, officers and soldiers should disinfect and clean their machines. Traffic police should use gloves and masks when measuring alcohol concentration.

According to Mr. Hung, the National Traffic Safety Committee also recommended that the Minister of Transport advise the Prime Minister to direct public transport vehicles, bus, taxi drivers and even passengers on these vehicles to wear masks.

“If this can be done, the Transport sector will also contribute to limiting the risk of disease transmission because the vehicle is a hot environment, and when a virus appears on the vehicle, the possibility of on-site infection is very high,” Mr. Hung said.
