Who will be in China's new leadership?
The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will conclude on October 24 and unveil its new leadership.
CNN has released a list of potential candidates to become members of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (PBSC).
The PBSC, China's highest executive body, will consist of seven members (18th Congress) or nine members (17th Congress).
1. Xi Jinping

Xi Jinping (64 years old) is currently the General Secretary of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China, Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China and the number one figure in PBSC.
2. Li Keqiang

Mr. Li Keqiang (62 years old) is currently the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and the second-ranking person in the PBSC. He has strengths in economic development, price control, finance, climate change and macroeconomic management.
3. Tran Man Nhi

Mr. Chen Min'er (57 years old) is currently a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In July 2017, he was appointed to replace Mr. Sun Zhengcai as Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee. He spent most of his career in Zhejiang Province. In 2013, he was transferred to become Governor of Guizhou Province, and in 2015 was promoted to Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
Chinese President Xi Jinping worked in Zhejiang from 2002-2007 before moving to Shanghai. Mr. Chen Min'er worked under Xi for more than four years during this time.
4. Han Chinh

Mr. Han Zheng (63 years old) is currently a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee. He served as Mayor of Shanghai from 2003 to 2012. In November 2012, he was promoted to become Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee.
5. Xuan Hoa Lake

Mr. Hu Chunhua (54 years old) is currently a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. He worked in Tibet for a long time and was promoted partly thanks to his active participation in the Communist Youth League of China.
He became China's youngest governor when he served as governor of Hebei Province in 2008. He was then promoted to Party Secretary of Inner Mongolia in 2009. Hu Chunhua is considered a promising candidate to join China's sixth generation of leaders.

Mr. Li Zhanshu (67 years old) is currently a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Secretariat, and Director of the General Office of the Central Committee of China. Previously, he served as Governor of Heilongjiang Province, Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, and Secretary of Xi'an City.
In July 2012, Li Zhanshu was appointed Deputy Chief of the Central Standing Office, taking over all tasks and functions from Ling Jihua. In September of the same year, he officially became Chief of the Office.
7. Wang Huning

Mr. Wang Huning (62 years old) is currently a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and the chief strategist of Zhongnanhai. Wang Huning is an experienced person who has worked under three generations of Chinese leaders, from Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao to Xi Jinping.
8. Wang Yang

Wang Yang (62 years old) is currently a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council. He served as Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee from 2005 to 2007. Wang Yang is considered one of the leading reformists in the senior leadership of the Communist Party of China.
He is considered a pioneer in the development model of Guangdong province such as changing the economic structure of Guangdong province by reducing dependence on cheap commodity exports and shifting to high-tech, environmentally friendly industries.
9. Trieu Lac Te

Zhao Leji (60 years old), is currently a member of the Politburo and head of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Previously, he was the governor of Qinghai Province and the Party Secretary of Shaanxi Province. He was elected to the Politburo and moved to Beijing five years ago when Xi Jinping took office.
10. Wang Qishan

Wang Qishan (69 years old) is currently the 6th member of the Politburo Standing Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China. Previously, he worked at the Shaanxi Museum and held senior positions in Guangdong and Hainan. In 2004, he became Mayor of Beijing, playing a key role in organizing the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
