Russian leader Vladimir Putin has won the geopolitical race with the United States and Europe, according to the authors of an article published in the British newspaper The Telegraph.

The article emphasizes that the Russian president has shown the weaknesses of Western politicians. In particular, the European Union can now see that its ambitions to play a key role on the international stage are unfounded.

At the same time, according to the authors of the article, European politicians have refused to speak out against Russia as a united front. At the same time, Washington's anti-Russian policy is expressed only in the form of bellicose rhetoric.

As journalists assert, Moscow has won and achieved its geopolitical goals. Specifically, under current conditions, the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO is extremely low. In addition, Russia's advantage is also demonstrated by the fact that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is ready to supply gas to Europe.

“Kiev has seen how little its allies are actually willing to do for it,” the publication added.

Earlier in the day, Italian political scientist Lucio Caracciolo said that at the current stage of negotiations on the situation in Ukraine, Putin has achieved a tactical victory over the West. According to him, the president has succeeded in returning Russia to the role "that the United States must take into account." Putin has also launched Russian-American talks on global strategic weapons and the security architecture in Europe, while the instability in Ukraine ensures that the country will not be able to join NATO, the expert added.
