(Baonghean.vn) - The indiscriminate dumping of garbage into streams in Thach Ngan commune (Con Cuong district) has been occurring recently. Currently, the Nam Cai stream, flowing under the spillway bridge in Dong Tam hamlet, is overflowing with garbage, with hundreds of bags of trash dumped into the stream, blocking the flow and causing environmental pollution.

A local resident said that not only household waste and plastic scraps, but even the carcasses of dead poultry and livestock are thrown into the stream, emitting a foul odor. It is known that along the route from National Highway 7 to Thach Ngan commune, passing through many streams and ravines, there are a total of 10 spillway bridges and 1 concrete bridge. The spillway bridge over Nam Cai ravine is the first bridge on the road to Thach Ngan commune, and this is also the location with the most indiscriminate littering. The remaining spillway bridges have relatively less litter being dumped into the streams and ravines. Photo: HTThe bridge abutment has suddenly become a 'dumping ground' for trash?! The leaders of Thach Ngan commune People's Committee acknowledge that the indiscriminate dumping of trash at this bridge abutment has been occurring for some time. Local authorities and organizations have repeatedly educated residents about environmental protection, the harmful effects of waste on water sources and human health. This issue has also been raised and addressed in local meetings, but it has not yet been completely resolved. Photo: HTThe waste flows downstream to other hamlets and villages. The leaders of Thach Ngan commune People's Committee also stated that the government and relevant organizations will strengthen propaganda measures and encourage the detection of litterers to promptly prevent and remind them, for example, by considering installing surveillance cameras. In the long term, the commune currently lacks a household waste collection service, which is a difficulty in environmental protection and requires support from relevant authorities to find solutions.
