Prensa Latina news channel reviews and gives advice for the success of Vietnam tourism.

Cuba's official news agency Prensa Latina commented that Vietnam is increasingly gaining international reputation for tourism, and is becoming one of the fastest growing destinations in the world.

Prensa Latina quoted information from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as saying that Vietnam ranked 7th in the list of successful emerging tourism markets, with the rate of international tourists increasing by 24.6% in 2016.

Also last year, Vietnam recorded a record number of foreign tourists of 10.5 million. In 2017, Vietnam expects to welcome at least 1 million more tourists; at the same time, it has set a target of serving 17 to 20 million international visitors by 2020, in addition to the expected number of domestic tourists reaching 82 million.

While praising Vietnam for its breathtaking landscapes, the Cuban news channel also warned that this is not enough for a country to truly stand out in the competitive global tourism sector: beauty, as well as luck, needs to be helped.

According to Prensa Latina, building suitable infrastructure and preparing adequate resources such as human resources, technology, etc., is not everything. To become a tourism “powerhouse”, Vietnam must always maintain a smart “head” in policies, guidelines and implementation.

Currently, Vietnam ranks 24/141 in the world's tourism resource rankings, however, it only ranks 75 in terms of competitiveness.
