Arrested fake police colonel, driving car with fake blue license plate to commit fraud

On November 2, the Criminal Police Department (Da Nang City Police) is temporarily detaining Le Thua Son (48 years old, from Yen My commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province) to continue investigating the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

According to the initial investigation, in April 2023, Son came from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang to visit and became acquainted with Ms. Nguyen Thi Nh. (35 years old) and Ms. Phung Thi H. (43 years old), both residing in Da Nang.

To create trust, Son "bragged" that he was an officer of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, had many relationships with superiors and could handle all matters related to court cases and land paperwork.

Son produced a fake People's Police ID card bearing his name and the rank of colonel, and at the same time, used a fake blue license plate attached to his personal car to travel.

Because she believed Son was a "real police officer", from April 2023 until now, Ms. H. has given Son 2 billion VND to help her sister, who is currently being detained by Ho Chi Minh City Police for "Fraudulent appropriation of property", be released on bail.

Ms. N. gave Son 5 billion VND to help change the land use purpose in Tam Ky city (Quang Nam).

Le Thua Son used all the money the two women gave him for personal expenses.

After knowing they were scammed, the two victims filed a complaint with the Da Nang City Police.

Along with arresting Son, the police also seized evidence including 1 car; 1 fake People's Police ID card under the name Le Thua Son; 1 pair of handcuffs; 2 fake blue car license plates 80A-565.49...
