Arrested a subject who specializes in breaking electronic 'chips' to steal things in supermarkets
Thuy and his accomplices used magnets to break electronic "chips" attached to goods at a series of supermarkets to steal things.
On March 14, Dong Da District Police (Hanoi) arrested Tran Thi Huong Thuy (born in 1970, residing in Hong Bang District, Hai Phong), while she was on the run.

Since October 2018, Thuy and his accomplices have used magnets to break electronic “chips” attached to goods at a series of supermarkets in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to steal. After taking the goods, the subject hid them in his skirt to fool the security guards. During the process of verifying his identity, Thuy had 5 previous convictions for “Theft of property”.
Based on the evidence, the Investigation Police Agency, Dong Da District Police initiated a case and prosecuted Tran Thi Huong Thuy for the crime of “Theft of property”. However, the subject fled her residence and Dong Da District Police issued a wanted notice for Thuy.
On March 14, Dong Da District Police arrested Thuy. Initially, the subject confessed to having committed many thefts at supermarkets. Thuy sold the stolen goods to get money for gambling and personal expenses. Dong Da District Police are continuing to expand the investigation of the case..
