Arrest of subject pretending to sell oranges to transport drugs

(Baonghean.vn)- On November 16, Con Cuong District Police said they had arrested a subject illegally transporting drugs by disguising himself as an orange trader.

Previously, after receiving secret information about a drug trafficker in the area, Con Cuong Police established project number 117D to monitor Cao Dang De, born in 1968, residing in Thong Nhat village, Mau Duc commune.

Identifying this as a long-term and very dangerous drug addict, often carrying a knife and ready to fight back against the authorities, the task force divided into two working groups.

The first team is responsible for monitoring and controlling all behaviors and movements of the subject, the second team coordinates with the Traffic Police Department PC67 (Nghe An Police) to ambush, stop vehicles and arrest the subject.

At around 10:15 a.m. on November 16, De called a taxi to go to Block 2 of Con Cuong Town (in front of Muong Thanh Hotel) to catch a bus to the South. When he got off the bus, De was holding a cardboard box and a black backpack on his back.

The second task force conducted an administrative inspection and discovered a sophisticatedly disguised cardboard box inside, with an orange layer on top, followed by cardboard, and a wooden chair at the bottom, with a heroin brick tied under the chair.

When checking the subject, the authorities discovered two more small bags of heroin. The subject admitted that the heroin cake was for sale, and the two small bags were for personal use. The total weight was 370.60 grams.

In addition, the task force also seized 1,900,000 VND, 2 ATM cards, 2 sharp knives and 1 mobile phone.

Currently, Cao Dang De is being detained by Con Cuong Police for further investigation.
