Seized 113 cartons of smuggled cigarettes worth nearly 40 million VND

(Baonghean.vn)- Authorities inspected a suspicious car and discovered 113 cartons of smuggled cigarettes worth 40 million VND.

Senior Lieutenant Tran Van Ngoc, head of the patrol team at Traffic Police Station 5.1 - Nghe An Road and Railway Traffic Police Department, said that at around 7:30 p.m. on October 23, the patrol team was on duty at km 397 (National Highway 1A, in Dien Chau district) when they discovered a Toyota car with license plate number 37A-1496, running in the direction of Hanoi - Vinh, showing suspicious signs, so they asked to stop the car for inspection.

Police seized 113 cartons of cigarettes.

During the inspection, the car was found to contain 113 packs of cigarettes with the 3-digit number 555, worth about 40 million VND. The cigarettes were transported by Phan Thi Kim Dung (residing in Hong Son Ward, Vinh City) from Hanoi to Nghe An for consumption.

The case has been handed over to Dien Chau district police for handling according to legal regulations./.
