Arrested 'thief' who stole donation boxes from a temple in Nghe An 5 times in a row
(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of a loophole in Hong Phuc Pagoda in Nghi Loc District, Tran Manh Hoang, residing in Dien Chau District (Nghe An), broke in and committed 5 thefts of donation boxes.
At 0:00 on May 14, Nghi Long Commune Police, Nghi Loc District caught Tran Manh Hoang (born 1990), residing in Dien Quang Commune, Dien Chau District, red-handed while takingstealing donation boxesin Hong Phuc Pagoda, Nghi Long Commune, Nghi Loc District.

At the police station, Tran Manh Hoang admitted to his crime and confessed: in May 2021 alone, he committed a total of 5 thefts at Hong Phuc Pagoda, each only 3 to 5 days apart.
This subject, although married and had children, left home to wander to Nghi Loc district. The amount of money from the donation box thefts was not large, from a few dozen to a few hundred thousand dong, but it caused anger and anxiety for the abbot and monks in the temple.

Captain Hoang Thanh Hai, Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Team of Nghi Loc District Police, said: Hong Phuc Pagoda is in the planning and construction phase, so the fence system is low and easy to break into.
Previously, on the evening of May 9, 2021, taking advantage of the late night, a thief broke into the temple, took the donation box, and brought it to the garden area in the temple grounds to destroy and steal property. After receiving the information, Nghi Long Commune Police coordinated with Nghi Loc District Police to verify and extract camera data in the temple to serve the investigation.
After understanding the pattern of the property theft, Nghi Long Commune Police organized an ambush at Hong Phuc Pagoda to arrest the perpetrator and arrested Tran Manh Hoang.
