Arrest of two illegal sand dredging boats in Thanh Chuong district
(Baonghean.vn) - February 29, the Interdisciplinary Delegationaccording to Decision 5445Arrested two cases of illegal sand mining in Thanh Chuong district.
Specifically,tFrom 10:30 to 10:45 on February 29, 2016, at Lam River, Van Ngoc Hamlet, Thanh Khai Commune, Thanh Chuong District, the Interdisciplinary Team arrested two illegal sand dredging boats. The two iron-hulled boats were 23m long, 4.2m wide, and 1.25m high. One boat belonged to Mr. Tong Van Hau, born in 1972, and the other to Mr. Tran Van Toan, born in 1965. Both resided in Lam Son Block, Nam Dan Town, Nam Dan District.

In response to illegal sand mining, the interdisciplinary team drew up a record, temporarily seized the exhibits (two iron-hulled boats and sand-sucking equipment), and transferred them to the Thanh Chuong District People's Committee for handling according to their authority.
As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, in Official Dispatch No. 946/UBND-NC dated February 24, 2016, the Provincial People's Committee requested: The Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong districts to strengthen management work, assign specific responsibilities to the People's Committees of wards, communes, towns, relevant organizations and individuals to maintain areas to prevent the recurrence of illegal sand and gravel exploitation, transportation, and opening of wharves and gathering sites.
