Young man arrested for using crossbow to shoot 3 passersby

(Baonghean.vn) - Que Phong district police said they had arrested Phan Van Viet, residing in hamlet 2, Que Son commune (Que Phong) for using a crossbow to shoot and injure three passersby.

Previously, at around 12:10 p.m. on May 5, Phan Van Viet stood on the side of the road at the intersection of Kim Son town market (Que Phong), holding a crossbow in his hand.

Suddenly, Viet rushed out and chased the passersby, threatening to kill them. Viet used a crossbow to hunt animals and shot at 3 passersby, injuring 3 victims.

Among them, Ms. Lo Thi Van (born in 1989, residing in Huu Van village, Chau Kim commune) was shot in the back. Ms. Lo Van Ky (born in 1999, residing in Dai village, Que Son commune) was shot in the groin. Ms. Vi Thi Dung (born in 1983, residing in block 8, Kim Son town) was shot in the thigh.

Immediately after receiving the information from the people, Que Phong District Police quickly arrested the subject. When they discovered Viet was on his way home, the police tried to persuade him but the subject resisted and intended to shoot a crossbow at the police but was promptly controlled.

Currently, all 3 victims are receiving first aid at Que Phong District General Hospital. The health of the 3 people is still being monitored by hospital doctors.

It is known that Viet is a long-term drug addict, although he has been to rehab many times but has not been successful. According to witnesses, Viet showed signs of being high on drugs.

The case is currently being investigated by Que Phong District Police.
