Quickly caught 2 young men snatching phones from security camera images

Nguyen Vinh Si drove a motorbike carrying Tran Thanh N. to snatch a woman's cell phone to sell and split the money, but the subjects did not expect that it was recorded by a security camera on the street and they were arrested shortly after.

On November 12, Long Xuyen City Police (An Giang Province) announced that they had just arrested two suspects for snatching property from passersby in the area.

Previously, at around 11:45 a.m. on November 11, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen stopped her car on the side of Vo Thi Sau Street (in Dong Thanh Hamlet, Dong Xuyen Ward, Long Xuyen City) to use her phone, when suddenly two young men on a motorbike came from behind and snatched her Samsung A5 phone worth over 6 million VND.

Subject Nguyen Van Sy was arrested with evidence.

The victim then went to Dong Xuyen Ward Police to report the incident. Through images extracted from security cameras on Vo Thi Sau Street, along with professional measures, the Criminal Police Team of Long Xuyen City Police in coordination with Dong Xuyen Ward Police identified and arrested two young men that same afternoon.

During the investigation, Nguyen Vinh Si (17 years old, residing in Trung Thanh hamlet, My Thoi ward, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province) and Tran Thanh N. (14 years old, residing in My Xuyen ward, Long Xuyen city) were identified as the perpetrators of the above robbery.

Both confessed that due to lack of money and laziness, Si invited N. to rob property, and N agreed.

Si drove a motorbike with license plate 67B2 - 104.12 carrying N. to Vo Thi Sau Street and discovered that Ms. Yen was using a cell phone. Si immediately drove closer so that N. could sit behind him and snatch the phone and escape. After that, both of them sold the stolen property for 1.3 million VND and divided it among themselves. When Si drove N. near Si's house, he was arrested by the police.

Because N. is still a minor, Long Xuyen City Police released him on bail to continue investigation and verification.
