Arrested a group of people driving a car, using guns to rob goods worth 2.5 billion

Du and his men drove a car into a project site in Ho Chi Minh City, held two guards at gunpoint, tied them up, and robbed several rolls of cable worth 2.5 billion VND.

On December 14, Ho Chi Minh City police arrested 6 people in a robbery gang led by Tran Hoang Du (28 years old) and Nguyen Van Hoa (34 years old).

Du and Hoa confessed that while passing through the residential area project in Long Thoi commune (Nha Be district), they saw 5 rolls of electric cable worth billions, so the duo invited more people to rob them.

They rented a car with An Giang province license plates, pretended to be customers and entered the project to gather information and plan their plans. In the early morning of November 13, the group brought guns, parachute cords, machetes, sticks, etc. and drove the car to the construction site.

Breaking into the security checkpoint at the construction site, Du pulled out a gun and threatened the employees inside to question them. When he learned that there was another person on patrol, he forced the male security guard to call his colleague back to the checkpoint via walkie-talkie, then restrained and tied them both up.

One of Du's men, wearing a security guard's uniform, stayed behind to guard the hostages and keep watch. The others hired a crane to load the coils of electric cables onto a truck they had prepared and escaped toward the Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway.

Sold the cable to a scrap yard owner in Dong Nai for nearly one billion VND, the group split the money and went back to Saigon to have fun.
