Arrest of female student leading inter-provincial drug ring

Police identified Hoang Nguyen Minh Hang, 21 years old, a second-year student at Hue College of Tourism, as the leader of the inter-provincial drug ring.

At around 1:30 p.m. on June 8, the female student was arrested by the police with evidence of more than 1,300 ecstasy pills and nearly 500 million VND at a motel on Diem Phung Thi Street, Hue City.
Based on Hang’s testimony, the police arrested Nguyen Van Quang, 20, and his girlfriend Ngo Thi Hang Dung, confiscating more than 625 grams of crystal meth, a scale, and some tools. All three suspects tested positive for drugs.

Authorities said Hang ran a drug trafficking ring from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue by bus. The female student delivered drugs to Quang and Dung, along with many others, for consumption in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.

On June 12, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Province Police said that Hang, Quang and Dung are being investigated for trafficking, storing and illegally using drugs.

Many young people and some students in Hue are suspected of being involved in this network.
