Bayern eased through after draw at Benfica
Although the opponent took the lead, two goals from Vidal and Muller helped the German representative easily advance with a 3-2 win after two matches.
Despite the opponent scoring first, Bayern quickly regained control of the game and scored two goals to play comfortably in the remaining minutes of the match. This victory helped the "Gray Tigers" reach the Champions League semi-finals for the fifth consecutive time.
After a few slow minutes at the beginning of the match, Bayern began to dominate thanks to their good ball control. However, in the 27th minute, in a counter-attack, Benfica unexpectedly opened the scoring. Eliseu observed quickly and then poured the ball into the penalty area for Raul Jimenez to jump high and head the ball into Neuer's net.
In this situation, the Bayern goalkeeper made a bad judgment. He rushed out to meet the opponent's cross but was cut off by Jimenez. The Mexican striker also showed good fighting ability when he defeated two of the opponent's center-backs to head into the empty net. Not long after, Jimenez had another chance but his close-range shot went right to Neuer.

However, the home team did not maintain their advantage for long. Eleven minutes later, Lahm's cross was cleared by goalkeeper Ederson while Benfica defenders were drawn to Thomas Muller's path. The ball bounced to Vidal and the Chilean midfielder fired decisively with his left foot into an empty net.
In the first leg, Vidal also played the hero role when he headed in the only goal for his team. This time, the former Juventus midfielder was there at the right time and place to "save" Pep Guardiola. Vidal's goal meant that Benfica had to score at least two more goals and not concede any more to advance.

Shortly after the second half began, Muller gently tapped the ball into the net after a header from Javi Martinez, ending the Portuguese side's hopes. Talisca's beautiful free-kick later on, therefore, no longer had much meaning.
In the semi-finals, Pep Guardiola could face either the team he will manage from next season, Man City, or Real Madrid, his rival when he was in charge of Barca. Real is the team that eliminated Bayern in the semi-finals of the Champions League 2013/2014 with a total score of 5-0 after two matches. The remaining team to win the ticket to the next round is Atletico Madrid.
