Nghe An Border Guard and Xieng Khouang (Laos) troops conduct bilateral patrols on Truong Son peak
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 18 and 19, Na Ngoi Border Post, Nghe An Border Guard coordinated with Border Guard Company 222, Military Command of Xieng Khouang Province, Laos to organize bilateral patrols to check the border marker system and protect the safety of the Vietnam - Laos border.
Participating in the patrol, Border Guard Company 222 was led by Major Vong Phan - Political Commissar; and the Na Ngoi Border Guard Station was led by Captain Nguyen Ba Ky - Deputy Political Commissar of Na Ngoi Border Guard Station.
The bilateral patrol force conducted a closed patrol of the Vietnam - Laos border from the area of milestone No. 420 to milestone No. 422, with a length of 15m, located at an altitude of 2,720m above sea level. This is the "roof" of the Truong Son mountain range (the second highest in Vietnam, after the peak of Phan Xi Phang of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range).

The patrol team overcame difficulties in dry, cold weather, thin air and extremely rugged terrain to carry out procedures to protect border markers, and at the same time exchanged contents related to border protection work... The two sides correctly implemented principles, protocols and procedures in foreign affairs activities.
The inspection results showed that the border markings were not moved, and the border markers were kept intact and safe.

After completing the bilateral patrol, the two sides held a meeting to review experiences, signed minutes and agreed on plans for the next patrols.
This is an activity coordinated by the unit with friendly forces to promptly detect violations of border regulations, resolve incidents occurring on the border; coordinate to protect the common border, maintain political security and social order and safety on the border; thereby further strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and between the two units in particular./.
