According to Makei, there are many challenges and threats facing the two countries today that the United States and Belarus can and must fight together. As Makei noted, these and other challenges and threats were discussed during the meeting of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, which took place in Minsk on Saturday. The Belarusian Foreign Minister said that the relevant content was the fight against terrorism and human trafficking, the fight against drug trafficking, as well as ensuring security.
On February 1, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Minsk as part of his Asia-Europe tour.
The purpose of the visit is to "affirm the United States' commitment to a sovereign, independent, stable, and prosperous Belarus and to underscore efforts to normalize bilateral relations," the US State Department said.
