Thuong Tru ferry - where the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee was established

This place is majesticmonumenthistorical with the image of a boat, sails in the wind and above the mast shining hammer and sickle. The horizontal sign printed with solemn golden letters: "Thuong Tru ferry, where the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee was established, March 1930".

That day, on a night in early March, just after nearly 2 months of our Party's birth (February 3, 1930), on a boat at Thuong Tru ferry, an event of important historical significance took place. Comrade Tran Huu Thieu (aka Nguyen Trung Thien), Central Region Party Committee member, convened and chaired the Conference to establish the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee. The Conference elected the Provisional Executive Committee and Comrade Nguyen Trung Thien was appointed as Provincial Party Secretary.

The conference thoroughly grasped a number of issues regarding the direction and principles of operation, the building of Party organizations and the policy of mobilizing the masses to fight. The birth of the Ha Tinh Party Committee was a milestone marking an important turning point in the revolutionary movement of the people of our province in the early 20th century.

Immediately after its establishment, the Provincial Party Committee focused on leading the expansion of the system.Party organization, established district party committees, village and commune party cells and recruited hundreds of party members. The newspaper “Step Forward”, the first mouthpiece of the Provincial Party Committee, and hundreds of leaflets reached the masses. Red seeds were sown on the land of Lam Hong, which was hungry and miserable but rich in patriotic and revolutionary traditions. With the light of Marxism-Leninism, the Political Platform and the Party's political line, tens of thousands of working people were awakened, shook off the mud and rose up to fight against colonialism and feudalism. Many large demonstrations broke out consecutively in the districts of Can Loc, Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen, Huong Khe...

Like a waterfall bursting its banks, farmers from villages and communes poured into the district office, demanding tax reductions, punishing tyrants, and shaking the feudal colonial governing apparatus. The people rose up to seize power, punish tyrants, disintegrate the puppet apparatus, and establish Soviet governments throughout the province.

Joining the fighting spirit of Vinh - Ben Thuy workers and farmers in Nghe An districts, Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee launched a demonstration on December 22, 1930 at Nghen intersection to commemorate the "Quang Chau riot" day. Tens of thousands of farmers from Can Loc district, with the support of a demonstration group from Thach Ha district, marched to the district office, shouting slogans demanding the overthrow of colonial and feudal rule. Frightened by the strength of the masses, the enemy opened fire on the demonstration group, killing 42 revolutionary soldiers.

This was the bloodiest massacre of the movement.Nghe Tinh Soviet1930 - 1931 in our province. Comrade Nguyen Trung Thien was also captured by the enemy, brutally tortured and executed at the foot of Hong Linh mountain. Although the movement was brutally suppressed by the enemy, hundreds of party members and revolutionary masses were arrested, imprisoned and murdered, many villages were burned down, but the Soviet flame still smoldered so that 15 years later, Ha Tinh took the lead in the great August Revolution of 1945.

That tradition was strongly promoted, fostering the heroic Dong Loc Victory during the years of fighting the Americans, contributing to the whole country's total victory in the Spring of 1975.

Thuong Tru ferry and the Soviet homeland today are shining with the vitality of a countryside on the road to building a new countryside. Can Loc district's economy maintains a rapid and sustainable growth momentum. People's lives are constantly improving. Technical infrastructure of irrigation, electricity, roads, schools, stations, markets, housing, offices, and cultural houses are being built synchronously.

Many cooperatives, cooperative groups, and enterprises were established. Production and business efficiency increased rapidly. Traditional customs and traditions were revived, cultural and spiritual life flourished. The countryside was green, clean, beautiful, and fresh. In many places, it was as if "a city lived in a village".

In 2018, Dong Loc commune achieved urban type V status and was recognized as a town. Nghen town basically met the criteria for urban type IV. On October 17, 2019, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1405/QD-TTg recognizing Can Loc as a new rural district.

The old Thuong Tru village, which used to be poor by the river, has now become a part of Thien Loc commune - Hero of Labor in the renovation period, a bright spot of rich and beautiful countryside. And the Nghen Xo Viet intersection, which was painful and heroic in the thirties, is rising day by day to become a highlight of the urban area, gradually moving towards a modern and civilized town.
