Shot by police, subject transporting 29 heroin cakes tried to escape
On June 8, the Ha Dong District Police, Hanoi, announced that they had discovered and established a special project to combat and destroy a criminal ring illegally buying, selling, and transporting drugs from Hoa Binh through Hanoi to Quang Ninh for consumption; and arrested an important link in the ring, Trinh Van Tu, born in 1990, residing in Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong.
Previously, from professional work, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Team - Ha Dong District Police discovered a drug trafficking and transportation ring of large quantities of drugs through Hanoi to Quang Ninh for consumption. A special project to combat and eradicate this drug ring was established.
On June 2, upon receiving information that a subject in the ring would be transporting drugs by car along National Highway 6A through Hanoi, the police immediately carried out a plan to surround and arrest the subject.
At around 10:00 a.m. on June 2, when a Toyota Fortuner car with license plate 30A-028.98 was discovered to be belonging to a drug transporter moving to the Ba La intersection, Phu La ward, Ha Dong district, the forces of Ha Dong district police, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi Traffic Police stopped and arrested the subject.
Realizing that he was being surrounded and captured, the subject immediately accelerated and crashed into a police car in an attempt to escape. Faced with the subject's recklessness, the task force decided to open fire, breaking two front windows and one rear window of the driver's seat of the car. However, the subject did not stop and drove towards the Quang Trung - Le Trong Tan intersection, then onto CIENCO 5 Street.
Immediately, the Task Force organized teams to capture the subject, and at the same time requested cooperation from the Thuong Tin District Police. When the car reached the gate of the 500KV Thuong Tin transformer station in Van Giap village, Van Binh commune, Thuong Tin district, it was blocked by the Thuong Tin District Police. At the end of the road, the subject immediately stopped the car, opened the door and ran down to the field in Van Giap village. However, just a few minutes later, the subject was arrested by the task force.
During an on-site inspection of the suspect's vehicle, the police discovered and seized 27 heroin cakes weighing 9,480.66 grams hidden in the rear seat of the vehicle and two cakes weighing 705.96 grams in the front air conditioner filter box.
At the police station, the subject's identity was clarified as Trinh Van Tu, born in 1990, residing in Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong. Initially, Tu confessed that he was hired by a subject named Tung to transport 29 heroin cakes from the Ho Chi Minh trail, in Hoa Binh province, to Quang Ninh to deliver to another subject. If the transaction was successful, Tu would receive a transportation fee of 50 million VND.
Previously, around April 2017, the subject successfully transported a shipment of 73 heroin cakes from Hoa Binh to Hon Gai, Quang Ninh for Tung and was paid 50 million VND by Tung. Currently, the Police Agency is continuing to investigate to clarify./.
