Fined 5 million VND for posting false news about 'touching breasts for charity'
To "get likes" on social networks, a young man created a post about touching a young woman's breasts to raise funds for charity at 29/3 Park in Da Nang.
On July 31, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thanh Hung (Deputy Chief of Police in charge of security in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang) administratively fined Nguyen Kim Anh (30 years old) VND5 million for providing information that is not in accordance with Vietnamese customs and traditions on social networks.
Previously, on Facebook, information was spread that from July 15 to 30, at 29/3 Park (Da Nang), there would be a breast touching festival for girls aged 16 to 22 to raise funds for the disabled. Each person would spend 50,000 VND for one breast touching.
In addition to the vulgar images and words, the post also advertised "pretty girls have been selected" and "wearing only T-shirts, no bras".
The information immediately spread on social networks. Thanh Khe District Police confirmed that there was no such festival.
When invited to work, Kim Anh admitted that he had copied similar information posted on social media before, changed the location to Da Nang, and posted it on Facebook to attract likes for the website of the store that buys, sells, and repairs used laptops that he owns.
Kim Anh admitted her wrongdoing and removed the post.
The police said that 5 million VND is the minimum fine with the main purpose of "deterrence and education". Kim Anh has a good character, works hard, and does not fully understand the harm of spreading false information.
In mid-June, Da Nang also fined a girl 12.5 million VND for spreading false information about two child kidnapping cases./.
