Valedictorian in Biology and the dream of becoming a good doctor

Still in the joy of becoming the valedictorian of the Biology major, Tran Gia Han (9C grade student, Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, Vinh City) shared that she and her family were extremely surprised by this achievement. "After the exam, I calculated my score and thought it was not low, but I did not expect to get a total score of 55, of which Biology scored 18.38 points" - Gia Han said.

Born into a family with both parents being military officers, no one was in the medical field or had an inclination towards Biology, however, from a very early age, the studious, good-natured student showed interest in this subject.

According to Gia Han, Biology is a natural science subject that requires diligence and creativity. It is not enough to just memorize and "parrot" but most importantly, to understand and master the basic knowledge in textbooks, then know how to string and systematize the content together.

For Gia Han, the “secret” to studying Biology well is not a big deal. Stemming from her own passion, along with effective learning methods, regularly searching for and solving sets of questions, Gia Han’s Biology results have been improving day by day. In particular, the pretty female student revealed that the Internet is a useful learning tool if you know how to use it properly.

“I often search for documents and watch clips about biological phenomena and the natural world… Foreign clips are very lively and detailed, answering many questions and stimulating my curiosity and desire to learn” – Tran Gia Han shared.

With passion and initial success as a foundation and motivation, I wish Tran Gia Han to study better and better, achieve her dream of being admitted to Hanoi Medical University, and become a good doctor in the future.

Valedictorian of English: “Talent only accounts for 20% of learning English”

That is the opinion of Duong Dang Nhat Minh (9th grade student, Hung Dung Secondary School) when asked how much of the success of learning English is due to talent and innate ability. According to Minh, success must come from effort. If you have talent in learning foreign languages, "luck" only accounts for about 20%, the rest must depend on hard work and constant effort to achieve success.

Nhat Minh won the Gold Medal in the IOE competition in 5th grade, so the result of being the valedictorian of the English Specialized Department at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted with a total score of 51.85 did not surprise him and his family too much. Nhat Minh believes that this is not a great achievement but only an initial result, in the future he still needs to try harder.

What is noteworthy about Nhat Minh's learning method is that he is very diligent in listening to conversations, reading foreign books and newspapers, and actively translating essays and poems from Vietnamese to English. In addition, he also regularly searches for good and difficult sets of questions from specialized schools in the country or Cambridge exam sets to test himself.

Admitting that his English grammar is not outstanding, and his listening and reading skills are better than some of his friends, Nhat Minh shared that he will study harder to make up for his shortcomings. The future direction of this mature valedictorian has also been shaped early: "I want to study English well to fulfill my dream of working and creating in the field of information technology in a foreign environment."

Contrary to what people often assume about the method of learning social sciences, Dinh Thi Minh Huyen (student of Hung Dung Secondary School) - valedictorian of the Geography Specialized Course of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School affirmed: "To study Geography well, you cannot just memorize it. This is a subject that requires a lot of connection to real life."

Huyen shared that when studying any content, she often searches for documents, connecting theory and practice to understand the nature of the problem. For example, when studying about the Red River Delta economic region, she will read newspapers, search the Internet, search for information about natural resources, the socio-economic development situation, and then link the information together.

The valedictorian shared that she doesn’t take many extra classes and doesn’t put pressure on herself to achieve high scores. For her, studying while playing, playing while studying, combining studying and entertainment is the most effective method.

Asked about her future dreams, Minh Huyen confided that she wants to become a successful businesswoman, contributing part of her efforts to the development of her homeland.

Valedictorian in Physics: Idol of Physicist Albert Einstein

Loving and gradually becoming passionate about Physics since "touching the door" of this interesting natural science, valedictorian Tran The Trung shared: "Physics is a subject with very high applicability. Almost all things and events in nature and in life can be explained by Physics."

Having a favorable foundation for studying as his family has a tradition of teaching, however, Trung himself had to make a lot of effort. Before the good news of being the valedictorian of Phan School of Physics, Tran The Trung won the Silver Medal of the 2017 National IOE Competition, the Third Prize in Provincial Youth Informatics, the Second Prize in Provincial Math for Children...

Although he is considered to be good at all subjects, because of his special love for Physics, The Trung spends more time to learn and improve his knowledge of this subject. His learning method is to "grasp the essence to understand the phenomenon", study the theory in textbooks firmly, then apply it in practice, associate, compare with reality to remember it for a long time.

“My idol is physicist Albert Einstein. I also admire the talent of Tran Huu Binh Minh - a student at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - Silver Medalist of the Asian Physics Competition”, - Tran The Trung confided. Hopefully, these two shining examples in the field of Physics will be a source of inspiration and motivation for Trung on the path to conquering the next peaks.
