Visiting the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Palace in Nghi Dien commune, Nghi Loc district, on the occasion of Christmas 2020 and welcoming the New Year 2021, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, comrade Tran Thanh Man wished Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long - Bishop of Vinh Diocese, along with priests, religious and Catholics in the diocese peace, happiness, and fullness of God's grace.
Party Central Committee Secretary Tran Thanh Man acknowledged that over the past years, Vinh Diocese has mobilized Catholics to effectively implement the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws; and policies of Nghe An. The coordination between the Bishop, priests, and Catholic followers with the Nghe An Party Committee and government has become increasingly close and cohesive, achieving very good results.

In particular, with his prestige, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long and priests have mobilized followers to carry out emulation movements and campaigns of the State; coordinated with localities to build houses for the poor, participated in supporting the prevention of Covid-19, and supported overcoming the consequences of floods in the Central region.
Providing some highlights of the country's situation in 2020, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said: Despite facing many difficulties and challenges, under the leadership of the Party and State, together with the efforts and determination of the people, Vietnam has successfully controlled the Covid-19 pandemic, the economy grew by an estimated 2.5 - 3%; inflation was controlled; social security was given attention; national defense and security were maintained; foreign affairs were strengthened, performing well the role of ASEAN Chair, non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council;...

In particular, the work of preventing corruption and waste has received great attention from the Party, the State, and the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, creating trust among the people and prestige internationally.
In that common achievement of the country, comrade Tran Thanh Man emphasized: The Catholic Church of Vietnam in general, Vinh Diocese in particular, bishops, priests, and Catholic compatriots have contributed greatly to the stability and development of the country.
However, our country still faces many difficulties and challenges that need to be further strived for. The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front hopes that with his prestige, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long will continue to mobilize priests, monks, and Catholics in Nghe An to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws; campaigns, emulation movements, and coordination programs between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and religious organizations to contribute to caring for the people's lives to be improved, increasingly prosperous, and happy.

On behalf of the priests, monks and nearly 300,000 Catholics of Vinh Diocese, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long respectfully thanked the Party, State and Nghe An province for their attention to Catholics.
The Bishop of Vinh Diocese expressed his joy that in 2020, despite many difficulties and challenges, the Party and State have strived and made great efforts to lead the country to achieve many achievements in all aspects; especially successfully controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring safety for the people.
Emphasizing that a good believer is also a good citizen, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long affirmed that he will continue to coordinate with the government to strive to build the country and care for the people's lives to become increasingly prosperous and happy.
Entering 2021, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long wished the leaders of the Central Government and Nghe An province a new year of peace, health, and wisdom to contribute and serve the people; at the same time, he said that he would join the entire people in looking forward to the 13th National Congress of the Party.

On this occasion, comrade Tran Thanh Man and the delegation visited the family of martyr Nguyen Anh Duy, a soldier of the 337th National Defense Economic Group, Military Region 4, a parishioner of Ke Gai parish in Nam Ke Gai hamlet, Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, who died while on duty during the recent flood.
