(Baonghean.vn) - At around 10 p.m. on June 22, 14 fishermen and their fishing boat were rescued by the Nghe An Border Guard and safely towed to shore after many days adrift at sea.

Previously, at 2:00 p.m. on June 19, the Border Guard Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port received an urgent rescue message from a fishing boat with license plate number NA 90988, captained by Mr. Truong Van Thuy (born in 1962, residing in Block 6, Nghi Thuy Ward, Cua Lo Town), reporting: While fishing in an area about 93 nautical miles east of Dragon Cape, Cua Lo Creek, close to the demarcation line of the Gulf of Tonkin, the boat's propeller shaft broke, with 14 crew members on board.

The crew tried to fix the problem but were helpless. The dire situation forced the captain to send out an emergency distress signal.

Upon receiving the news, Nghe An Border Guard directed local border guards, vehicle owners, fishing boat owners, and captains operating at sea near the area where the fishing boat crashed to provide support.
