In recent days, cold spells have been continuously increasing, the weather has been very cold, even extremely cold, with temperatures in the high mountainous areas of Nghe An only ranging from 2 - 5 degrees Celsius.

To cope with weather conditions affecting daily life, labor, production and work, units of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard, especially units in mountainous areas, have proactively and actively implemented measures to minimize the impacts of extreme weather.

The units have ensured that they have enough warm military uniforms for daily life and are ready for combat. In addition, they have sent working groups to the stationed areas to guide and help people with measures to prevent and protect people and animals from the cold. They have given warm blankets to the elderly, the poor, and those in difficult circumstances. To minimize the situation of livestock and poultry freezing to death, the border guards have instructed them to move to low-lying areas, light fires to warm themselves, cover them from the wind, and ensure adequate food reserves for cold days.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ky Son district said: Although the weather in some communes of Ky Son in the past few days has been very cold, ranging from 2 - 8 degrees Celsius, the cold period only occurs from 4 pm today to 9 am tomorrow, so there has been no damage to livestock.

However, before the cold season, the District People's Committee issued a document directing localities to strengthen propaganda on cold prevention and control measures for people and livestock, especially buffalo and cows. Accordingly, on very cold days, people should lock their livestock in barns, cover them tightly and light fires to keep them warm.
