Duo sentenced to death for transporting heroin worth 7 billion VND
Tuan received 120 million VND in wages, rented a car with Quan to transport 47 heroin cakes from Son La to Hanoi.
On June 13, Hanoi People's Court opened the first instance trial of Ta Anh Tuan (41 years old, in Son La) and Nguyen Hong Quan (36 years old, in My Duc district) for the crime ofIllegal drug trafficking.

Tuan's testimony and documents show that Tuanhired by a man named Tho to transport drugs fromLoong Luong commune (Van Ho, Son La) to Hanoi with a salary of 120 million VND. Accepting the offer, Tuan invited his friend Quan to join.
Because they were drivers, Quan and Tuan rented a four-seater car to transport goods. On December 4, 2017, following Tho's instructions,Tuan and Quan drove to Hang Voi slope (Loong Luong commune, Van Ho) to receive a sack containing 47 heroin cakes and a bag of synthetic drugs, totaling more than 16 kg, worth nearly 7 billion VND.
Early the next morning, when Tuan and Quan's car arrived at Ba Vi district, they were checked and arrested by the police.
Tuan confessed that he had delivered the goods but Tho had not yet paid him. Meanwhile, Quan denied any involvement in this matter. He said he was just a driver hired by Tuan.
The court determined that the testimony and the case's developments showed that Quan and Tuan transported 47 heroin cakes, so they were both sentenced to death.
Regarding the man named Tho, the authorities have not yet determined his background so they will separate him and deal with him later.
