The Ministry of Education and Training continues to adjust the end time of the 2019-2020 school year. |
Based on the above time frame, the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities shall proactively decide the time for students to return to school, ensuring safety and in accordance with the local epidemic control situation.
In addition, during the time students are off school, the Ministry recommends that the Chairman of the Provincial and Municipal People's Committee direct the Department of Education and Training to continue reviewing and streamlining teaching content according to the Ministry's instructions, deploying teaching via the Internet and television, and organizing review tests to recognize learning outcomes when students return to school.
Previously, on February 22, the Ministry of Education and Training signed an official dispatch to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities regarding the adjustment of the time frame for the 2019-2020 school year. Accordingly, the 2019-2020 school year will end before June 30, 2020, and the National High School Exam will take place from July 23 to 26. At that time, the Ministry proposed the time to return to school to be March 2.
However, due to the complicated developments of the epidemic, many localities continue to adjust and extend the time for students to stay home to ensure safety.
In that reality, speaking to the press, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Director of the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education and Training - said that in case the epidemic situation becomes complicated, the top priority is still to ensure the safety and lives of teachers and students. In case of force majeure that causes students to have a long break from school, the Ministry of Education and Training will calculate and adjust the time to ensure that schools have enough time to develop teaching plans and ensure the program.
"In case the epidemic situation persists, the new school year will traditionally start on September 5. Thus, schools have time from now until then to adjust the school year, as well as the national high school exam," said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh.
