The Ministry of Transport directed the coordination to clarify the case of two workers who died at the construction site of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Ministry of Transport has directed the project management unit and project enterprise to coordinate with relevant agencies to resolve construction incidents in accordance with the law, after a work accident killed two workers at the construction site of the North-South expressway.
Previously, at about 9:30 a.m. on November 8, 2023, at the construction site of the drainage box culvert of the residential road (Km464+720, right of way), belonging to package XL-01,Investment component project for construction of Dien Chau - Bai Vot sectionIn Hung Dao commune (Hung Nguyen), while dismantling the culvert wall formwork, two workers unfortunately had an accident.
Although they received first aid from people at the scene and were taken to the 115 Hospital for emergency treatment, the two workers died due to severe injuries. The victims were identified as Mr. D.VC, residing in Quynh Thuan Commune (Quynh Luu) and Mr. PNS, residing in Quynh Tho Commune (Quynh Luu).
According to reports from relevant parties, the initial cause of the incident is assessed to be due to recent prolonged rains, causing the ground around the foot of the wall to become saturated and weak.
After the incident, the contractor, Dai Hiep Company Limited, contacted the authorities such as Hung Nguyen District Police and other relevant units to report the incident and request to send officers to the scene to carry out the necessary procedures according to regulations. The contractor and project enterprise, Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company, also sent officers to the victims' homes to encourage, visit, express condolences and support part of the initial expenses for the victims. Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company also supported each family with 10 million VND.
After the incident, the Ministry of Transport also requested Project Management Board 6 and the project enterprise to report the situation in detail. At the same time, it required relevant parties to protect the scene, coordinate with competent authorities to resolve construction incidents according to the provisions of law; organize timely support, visit and encourage families of victims.
The Ministry of Transport also requested that the project enterprise, the investor, consider suspending the construction unit and report the results to Project Management Board 6 and relevant agencies, noting the need to clarify the cause, responsibility of relevant organizations and individuals and solutions; necessary measures to prevent similar cases from occurring during the construction process.
It is known that currently, the authorities are investigating and handling the case according to the provisions of law.
