The Russian Foreign Ministry considers the US's avoidance of dialogue on nuclear disarmament a mistake.
The United States made a big mistake by not negotiating with Russia on nuclear disarmament, Vladimir Yermakov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control, told Sputnik.

“We believe that Washington made a serious mistake by refusing bilateral dialogue between Russia and the United States on the entire strategic agenda,” Mr. Yermakov said.
"This only exacerbates existing problems and adds to the factors that hinder nuclear disarmament," he said.
The diplomat explained that “merely mechanically transferring these issues to a multilateral format will hardly promote finding solutions.”
"Our dialogue with the United States and multilateral activities should be conducted in parallel and complement each other," Mr. Yermakov added.
