Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen requested that hospitals take good care of patients who have to stay in hospital during the traditional Tet holiday.

“Do not allow any mistakes to occur in medical examination and treatment, and at the same time pay attention and care to patients who have to stay in hospital during the traditional Binh Than New Year” - this is the direction of Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen when inspecting the emergency response work at a number of medical examination and treatment facilities.

The working delegation of the Ministry of Health led by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuyen, Deputy Minister of Health, visited and inspected the medical examination and treatment work and emergency response during the Lunar New Year at the Central Acupuncture Hospital, Central Lung Hospital, Bac Giang Department of Health, Bac Giang General Hospital, Bac Ninh Department of Health, Bac Ninh General Hospital, and Bac Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

Implementing the Directive of the Minister of Health on strengthening medical work during the Lunar New Year 2016, 2 hospitals under the Central Government, namely the Central Acupuncture Hospital, the Central Lung Hospital and 3 hospitals under the Department of Health of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh have developed a plan to ensure medical work during the Lunar New Year holiday and work on disease prevention, disaster prevention and mass emergency.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Nhung, Director of the Central Lung Hospital, said that the hospital has built a 4-level schedule from leadership, expertise, administration and logistics to ensure medical examination and treatment during Tet, and at the same time, developed a plan to ensure disease prevention and mass emergency. The hospital has also prepared adequate equipment, medicine, infusion fluid, and blood to prepare for medical examination and treatment and emergency on duty. To support patients to have a warm Tet holiday, the hospital's Social Work Department has stepped up its call for many benefactors to give gifts and share with patients.

At Bac Giang General Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Van Dong, hospital director, said that although the hospital has screened and only retained seriously ill patients who need interventional treatment and special care, it is expected that hundreds of patients will have to celebrate Tet in the hospital.

For seriously ill patients who are forced to stay during Tet, the hospital will increase their food rations on the 29th, 1st and 2nd of Tet. Relatives of poor patients and those with preferential policies will receive similar benefits. On the 29th of Tet, the hospital's Board of Directors will visit and give gifts to seriously ill patients.

To best prepare for medical work during Tet, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of Bac Giang General Hospital have directed departments and rooms with many patients and few doctors not to refuse or delay any emergency cases.

Especially on the first working day, the Hospital will organize a meeting of the Emulation and Reward Council to promptly encourage individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in examining, treating and rescuing patients during the Lunar New Year.

At the inspection of medical work for the Lunar New Year, the Deputy Minister asked hospitals to develop detailed plans and strategies to ensure medical examination and treatment during the Lunar New Year, and to avoid shortages of medicine, blood, infusion fluids and equipment for medical examination and treatment as well as emergency care.

According to the Deputy Minister, patients who have to stay during Tet are usually seriously ill, poor and lonely patients, so medical staff must pay close attention so that patients can enjoy the Tet atmosphere. Hospitals must not let any mistakes happen during Tet, must ensure 4-level duty, ensure duty time and position, strictly follow professional regulations in medical examination and treatment and code of conduct for medical staff. In addition, hospital leaders must pay attention to and encourage medical staff on duty during Tet to wholeheartedly serve patients.

At the hospitals and the Department of Health of Bac Giang and the Department of Health of Bac Ninh, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Health, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Xuyen sent greetings and encouragement to the medical staff and reminded the staff participating in medical examination and treatment during Tet to wholeheartedly serve the patients. At the same time, the Deputy Minister also presented gifts and New Year greetings to the hospitals and the 2 Departments of Health.

Sharing with cancer patients

During the last days of the year, when most patients are celebrating Tet at home, cancer patients being treated at the Oncology Department, Bac Giang General Hospital and the Oncology Center, Bac Ninh General Hospital are still struggling with cancer.

To share and encourage the spirit of patients, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Xuyen, President of the Cancer Prevention Fund - Bright Tomorrow, Dr. Nguyen Ba Tinh - Permanent Deputy Director of the Cancer Prevention Fund - Bright Tomorrow presented 68 gifts to cancer patients being treated at the Oncology Department, Bac Giang General Hospital and 190 gifts to cancer patients being treated at the Oncology Center, Bac Ninh General Hospital.
